Taking a break from American History!

I decided to take a 20 minute break from getting my class done! It's consisting of:

1. Drinking some really good coffee in a Mary Poppins mug.
2. Looking at modcloth dresses and pretending that they're mine.
3. Crying because they're not.
4. Being obsessive-compulsive and making lists.
5. Mourning for summer, like urban outfitters.
6. Contemplating watching a movie, even though I know it's not a good idea.
7. Wishing I could be at a beach.
8. Wishing I had more time to blog today!

Yep. That's the fun stuff I'm thinkin' bout'.

Last Week In Review:

{Outfit for my friend's birthday! See how lovely my room looks?}
{My favorite, well, only, cuff!}
{Kool Aid! There's this chicken and waffles place named Lo Lo's that has the BEST Kool Aid ever!  We went there for my friend's 18th birthday on Saturday and had a lot of fun!}
{Just a picture I took of some of my earrings on my jewelry branch display that I got from World Market a couple months ago!}
{I was going on a photographer spree and decided to take a picture of some of my fashion and  interior design books. The blue one is from the 40's and is so glamorous and fun to look at!}
{Scottsdale is full of silly things, including horse-carriage parking!}
{Picture of some jewelry I have and wore to my friends birthday night. I'm trying to start the trend of two different earrings back up again; I just love the look!}
{Margarita from a tacos and tequila bar in Scottsdale. The place was so adorable! It looked like a club, but more metropolitan than you usually see in Scottsdale! There were horseshoe booths around little tables, a cute little bar, metal-work everywhere and a steel turning staircase that goes upstairs to a few couches and pool tables! They also had these little lights hanging everywhere that gave the place such a cool look!}
{My favorite Southwestern piece}

Belated Disney Pictures
{Pin-traders delight from the Disney Soda Fountain in Hollywood! Dang was that delicious.}
{My friend and I being obnoxious in front of the castle!}
{The most delicious creme brulee EVER. From the Blue Bayou! We had a table right next to the water so we got to watch all the Pirates of the Caribbean boats ride by!}

Rosebud In Bloom now Tulips to Kiss You With

I don't want to confuse people, but I feel the change is necessary. As a Senior in High School who's changing a lot in her life, I feel like I'm opening up a new chapter, so "Rosebud in Bloom" seems inadequate; I don't want to be known as a teenager who's blooming; I wanna be bold and Tulips to Kiss You With has always been a catch-phrase that describes me, one way or another. First of all, I love tulips. Secondly, I am forever a hopeless romantic.

So, what does the changes going on in my life mean for my blog? First, I should explain what's going on in my life, no? Nearly my whole life, up until lately, I thought that I would pursue a career in Musical Theatre. I thought I'd be the one who'd make it to Broadway; who would be a star. But, I realized that it's not my only passion. Since I was young, I always enjoyed photography, sketching, fashion, jewelry, vintage stuff, interior design, journalism, Disney and most of all, I wanted a family. Pairing all of those things with musical theatre is nearly impossible. Musical Theatre is such a risk. If you want to do it, it has to be the only thing on your mind, but for me, it's not. I know I could never let myself be out on the streets because I didn't have a job between jobs, there'd be no room for buying clothing in my budget, no Disney trips and certainly no time for dating or a family. It's not exactly easy to cultivate a relationship or build a solid income when you're flying from coast to coast to find jobs just to sustain yourself enough to live. With an emotional two hour cryfest, I decided that I didn't want to be a chorus girl my entire life. I decided to go after something that was a passion for me my whole life that I didn't realize could become a profession. I'd always wanted to have a job in business. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. It's not glamorous, but it sounds interesting to me. I decided I'm going to major in business, probably PR or marketing and minor in fashion. At least with PR and marketing, my acting classes won't have gone to waste.

And you want to know something funny? Even after all those years of building up my Broadway dreams, now that I've decided on something solid, I'm actually okay. I'm actually excited for a real college experience. I've worked my entire childhood, all day and all night, like I was already in the business. I never had time for friends, I was never so bored on the weekends that I went to the mall with my friends, I always had rehearsals. Heck, I barely had time for homework. I just feel like I need to make up for all those years I've missed. I kind of just want to live a normal life. I want to date guys that I've never had the time to date, go to art museums I've always wanted to go to... Of course I'll never stop singing or dancing or going to the theatre, but it's not going to be my whole life.

I haven't given up. I've only grown up. The idea of being a Broadway star is like that old dress that you got when you were 12 that you wanted to keep wearing, but after a while, it stopped fitting. But you didn't care, you just kept wearing it, despite all the finger wagging from your mom and odd looks from your friends. Then, you finally realize that it's time to move on, that you've reached a point where if you find a dress you love now, it'll keep fitting for years and years because you're finally blooming; it's something that you can keep loving for years. You still have that little dress, but it's not the main thing in your closet. You still love it and you've realized over time you always will. You may have grown out of it, but it's always something you can revisit.

graduation.

{freecodesource}
Well, this is it. Graduation. Not mine, that comes next year, but it's graduation for dozens of my closest friends who are nearly my family after what we've went through together. I've grown up with these people since 4th grade. We've been in choirs together, dance classes, theatre classes, academic classes; we've experienced nearly everything with each other and now they're leaving us underclassmen and going their separate ways.
When thinking of graduation the movie Eclipse pops into my mind, strangely enough.

"When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were things like astronaut, president, or in my case… princess.

When we were ten, they asked again and we answered - rock star, cowboy, or in my case, gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how 'bout this: who the hell knows?!

This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions, its time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love - a lot. Major in philosophy 'cause there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent.

So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be… we won't have to guess. We'll know."
-The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

This quote sums up everything I feel about graduation, and life. Yesterday, I was dawning on the fact that I have to make all the daunting decisions I do and dwelling on the repercussions of each one. While pondering this, Sex and the City played on my TV. You know, the episode where Carrie is trying out the trapeze and she's researching for her column "Sex and the City" about how when you're young you're carefree and when you're old you become more cautious.
Everyday, I realize more and more that kids these days are turning that around. A lot of us are so focused on our class rank, our popularity, what's right... We worry about it. Is it a good thing? I don't think so. The one time in our life when we have something like freedom, we can't dwell on ridiculous things or have an opportunity pass by after we've found every problem with the situation. We need to just go for things and whatever happens, happens.
My friends have all been stressing out about what they're going to do with their lives... What they're majoring in, who they're dating, who they'll marry, whether to have kids or not, what job to do... You're just getting out of high school, you have your whole life to do all those things. Those that are really, truly happy are the ones that just live in the moment and let it happen. And honestly, they're also the ones who turn out to be the most successful.
So on the night of high school graduation, or any milestone, we have to realize that life is about taking chances. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have the option.
